Kadala Kaya Mezhukku | Nadan Kadala Kaya Mezhukkupuratti

Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Black chana (cooked
- 1 cup Kaya/plantain — chopped
- 10 nos Shallots/Small onion
- 2 tsp Chili flakes
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Curry leaves, a few
- Water
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Smash half of the cooked chana and set aside.
Step 2
Cook the chopped raw banana in enough water by adding salt and turmeric powder.
Step 3
Mean time crush shallots and chilli flakes.
Step 4
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil and add curry leaves, crushed shallots and chilli flakes.
Step 5
Cook the onions till they are lightly browned.
Step 6
Next, add cooked chana and cooked kaya into it. Stir everything together thoroughly and cook for another 3-4 minutes and take it off the heat.
Step 7
Kadala Kaya Mezhukku is ready.
Tip
The pan should be completely dry when you finish — no moisture should remain. That dryness is what gives thoran its characteristic texture.
