Jackfruit Seed(Chakkakuru) Mango Curry
This homestyle jackfruit curry is built on a foundation of shallots fried dark in coconut oil and spices toasted until they release their full aroma. It tastes even better the next morning, spooned over cold leftover rice.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 cup Jackfruit seeds — chopped
- 1 nos Raw mango — sliced
- 11/2 cup Coconut
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds (jeerakam)
- 2 Cloves Garlic
- 2 tbsp Coconut oil
- 2 Spring Curry leaves
- 4 Springs Coriander leaves — chopped
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 3 nos Dry chillies
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing jackfruit seed mango curry, grind grated coconut, cumin seeds, garlic, turmeric powder and chilly powder together.
Step 2
Cook the jackfruit seeds and raw mango in 3 cups of water.
Step 3
Add the ground mixture and salt to it and let it bubble for 5 min.
Step 4
When the curry boils take it off the heat.
Step 5
Fry rest of the ingredients in oil: mustard seeds, curry leaves, dry red chillies and add this mixture to the curry.
Step 6
Jackfruit seed mango curry is ready. Garnish with coriander leavesServe hot.

Tip
Coconut oil and curry leaves at the very end, off the heat, give the curry its characteristic Kerala aroma. Never skip this final step.
