Jackfruit Seed - Drumstick Thoran
Simple, honest, and on every Kerala lunch plate — jackfruit thoran is coconut oil, grated coconut, and a handful of spices working quietly together. No fuss, just good food.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 cup Jackfruit seeds roasted and — powdered
- 2 cup Drumstick leaves
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- 4 Cloves Garlic — chopped
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- Mustard seeds, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing jackfruit seed - drumstick thoran, cook the jackfruit seeds with salt and turmeric powder until done.
Step 2
Steam cook the drumstick leaves.
Step 3
Let the mustard seeds crackle in coconut oil.
Step 4
Drop in the cooked jackfruit seeds and the cooked drumstick leaves. Fry it well.
Step 5
Next, add in turmeric powder, onion, chilly powder, garlic and grated coconut.
Step 6
Jackfruit seed - drumstick thoran is ready. Serve hot.
Tip
The pan should be completely dry when you finish — no moisture should remain. That dryness is what gives thoran its characteristic texture.
