Jackfruit Seed - Beef Curry
This homestyle beef curry is built on a foundation of shallots fried dark in coconut oil and spices toasted until they release their full aroma. It tastes even better the next morning, spooned over cold leftover rice.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1/4 kg Jackfruit seeds peeled and — sliced
- 1/2 kg Beef
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- 6 Cloves Garlic — chopped
- 1 piece Ginger — chopped
- 4 nos Green chillies — slit
- 1/2 cup Shallots — chopped (Kunjulli)
- 2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 11/2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1 tsp Masala powder
- Oil, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing jackfruit seed - beef curry, Heat the oil in a pressure cooker.
Step 2
Fry onion, garlic and ginger.
Step 3
Cook green chillies and shallots.
Step 4
Drop in coriander powder, chilly powder, masala powder and turmeric powder. Fry well.
Step 5
Next, add in the beef pieces and salt. Cook it covered.
Step 6
When the beef is half cooked, add in the jackfruit seeds and allow it to cook again.
Step 7
Jackfruit seed - beef curry is ready. Serve hot.
Tip
Thin strips cook faster and develop more crispy surface area than thick cubes. Cut against the grain for tenderness.
