Jackfruit Chips | Chakka Varathathu
Crunchy and tasty Jackfruit Chips are a mouth watering snack, an dish of God’s Own Country. Jackfruit Chips are one of the easiest of dishes that can be prepared with very limited ingredients. These healthy snacks always find a place in our dining table.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1 nos Jackfruit raw with firm flesh
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, to taste
- Water, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the delicious snack, first clean the jackfruit and separate the flesh from it. Make sure to apply oil on your palm and the knife while doing this so that the gum doesn’t stick to it. After separating the edible part, cut it into long pieces.
Step 2
Pour oil into a pan and heat it. When the oil is hot add the jackfruit pieces.
Step 3
Fry in hot oil it by stirring it occasionally.
Step 4
When its ready, add one tsp of salted water to the chips. Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 5
Remove it from fire.
Step 6
Repeat the same procedure for rest of the pieces.
Step 7
Store it in an airtight container.
Step 8
Turmeric can be added along with salted water. You can make out from the sound whether the chips is fried and is ready to be removed from fire.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
