Instant Sambar Recipe in 10 Minutes
truly and an instant dish that takes 10 minutes from start to finish. Most people the dish with soft idlis, dosa etc. This instant sambar tastes especially good with hot steamed rice too.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 cup Vegetables You can use any vegetables chopped into small pieces — include a tomato too
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 3/4 tsp Red chilly powder
- 11/2 tsp Sambar powder
- 2 tbsp Coconut — grated
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard
- 1/4 tsp Cumin seed
- 1/4 tsp Fennel seed
- 1 tsp Garlic — chopped
- 3 nos Shallots — chopped
- Curry leaves, a few
Preparation
Step 1
Pressure cook all the veggies with turmeric powder, red chilly powder, sambar powder and salt for one whistle.
Step 2
Add grated coconut and Fold everything together gently. Cook for another few minutes.
Step 3
In the mean time, Heat the oil in a kadai, let the mustard seeds crackle and add all the ingredients that comes under tempering. cook until the shallots turn lightly browned.
Step 4
Pour this in to the sambar mixture.
Step 5
Sambar is ready.
Tip
Add the tempering last and let the sambar rest for 5 minutes after. The flavours need a moment to settle.
