Instant And Easy Rava Dosa
A quick, satisfying dosa that needs minimal prep and delivers maximum crunch. Spread the batter thin for crispy edges, or thick for a softer, chewier centre. Pair with chutney and sambar.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1 cup Rava
- 1 cup Rice flour
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 nos Green chilly
- 1 small Onoin
- Salt, as needed
- Oil, as needed
- Water, as needed
Preparation
Step 1
Assemble together all the ingredients to make a batter. Take a bowl, add rava and pour 1 cup hot water into it. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Step 2
Add the soaked rava, rice flour and 1 cup water in a blender and blend it for 30 seconds.
Step 3
Pour the mixture into a large bowl and whisk till smooth without any lumps. The batter has to be flowing and thin. If the batter looks thick or has a medium consistency, then add more water. If the batter looks very thin and runny, then add some more rice flour. Finally add salt, cumin seeds, chopped onion and green chilly. Stir everything together thoroughly. Before preparing dosa, mix the batter very well.
Step 4
Spread some oil on the tawa or skillet. Do make sure that the tawa is hot. Keep the flame to medium or medium-high before pouring the dosa batter. With a ladle pour the dosa batter. Start from the edges and move towards the center. If there are big or small gaps, then fill them lightly with the batter. On a medium-low to medium flame, cook the dosa. If the tawa or pan becomes too hot, then you can reduce the flame. When the top side firm up and looks cooked, then sprinkle ½ to 1 teaspoon oil on the top and sides. Cook till the base is little golden and crisp. The edges will also separate from the pan. Flip and cook the second side for ½ to 1 minute or as needed.
Step 5
Fold and then serve instant rava dosa hot with chutney.
Tip
Spread the batter in a quick circular motion from the centre outward. Do not go back over areas you have already spread.
