Idly Upma (Step By Step Photos)
The left over idlies from breakfast can be reused if people do not prefer eating idly in more than one meal time.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 5 Idly
- 2 Onion medium sized
- 2 Red chili
- Curry leaves little
- 2 Ts Toor daal
- 2 Ts Mustard
- Oil to fry
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Get idly in a vessel.
Step 2
Crush the idlies to get loose consistency and set aside.
Step 3
Chop the onions and cut the chillies into two.
Step 4
Pour oil into a kadai and heat it.
Step 5
When the oil is heated add mustard and wait till it spurts.
Step 6
Toor dhal is added now and fried till the color changes to golden brown.
Step 7
To this add onions, chillies, curry leaves and sautT till the color of the onion changes. Add salt.
Step 8
Finally add the idly mixture and toss for 5 minutes.
Step 9
Serve while still hot with sugar or idly side dishes or sauce.
Tip
When the recipe says "medium heat," it means medium. Kerala cooking is not about high-flame drama — most of the work happens at a patient, steady temperature.
