Homemade Fried Cake
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 1 servings
- 4 cup Flour Maida
- 1/2 cup Semolina
- 1 cup Sugar
- 4 tbsp Ghee
- 3 nos Cardamom
- 2 nos Eggs
- Oil, to taste
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
Preparation
Step 1
Mix flour with semolina, ghee, sugar, egg, cardamom powder and turmeric powder.
Step 2
Knead well to make a smooth dough.
Step 3
Roll it out to half inch thick.
Step 4
Cut it into 2 pieces and roll it again.
Step 5
Cut the roll into equal small pieces and press each of them like shown in picture.
Step 6
Pour oil into a pan and heat it.
Step 7
Fry the pieces till they turn brown in color.
Step 8
Serve as an evening snack.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
