Home Made Cake
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 11/2 cup Allpurpose flour Maida
- 11/2 cup Sugar
- 5 nos Eggs
- 100 g Butter
- 11/4 tsp Baking powder
- 1/4 glass Milk
- 2 - Vanilla Essence
- Cashews, to taste
- Raisins, as needed
Preparation
Step 1
Grind sugar to a fine powder and Stir everything together thoroughly with the flour.
Step 2
Add Baking powder and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 3
Separate yellow and white portions of the egg and beat it well.
Step 4
Add milk to the white portion.
Step 5
Melt the butter and mix with the flour mix.
Step 6
Add white part of the egg first and then the yellow part into the above mix.
Step 7
Mix the batter really well.
Step 8
Grease the baking tray with some butter and to this sprinkle some plain flour and then add the mix.
Step 9
Add cashews and raisins into the mix.
Step 10
Don`t fill the tray to the brim. Fill it to its half the capacity.
Step 11
Keep the batter in the oven at 100 degree celsuis for about 30-45 minutes.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
