Green Peas Stew
A tasty and delectable vegetarian side dish, very popular in Kerala. Prepared from coconut milk, this is a mildly spiced, creamy curry dish that goes great with appam, idiyappam, chappathy, almost all rice dishes.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1 cup Green peas (dried green peas soaked
- 50 g Carrot — chopped
- 2 cup Coconut milk
- 3 nos Green chillies — slit
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 50 g Onion — chopped
- 50 g Potato — diced
- 1 piece Ginger — chopped
- Pepper, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the delicious dish, take a bowl and add in green peas, carrot, onion, potato, green chillies and ginger with little coconut milk and water. Add required salt too.
Step 2
Put the lid on and cook the vegetables.
Step 3
When done, add turmeric and pepper.
Step 4
Add the rest of milk and thicken the gravy. Remove from fire.
Step 5
The Nutritious dish, is ready.
Tip
When the recipe says "medium heat," it means medium. Kerala cooking is not about high-flame drama — most of the work happens at a patient, steady temperature.
