Godhambhu Palchoru
A one-pot rice dish that brings together grains, spices, and vegetables or meat in a single satisfying meal. The rice absorbs every flavour in the pot and comes out fragrant, colourful, and complete.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 cup Wheat remove the skin
- ½ cup Bengal gram (Kadalaparippu)
- 2 cup Thick coconut milk
- 4 cup Sugar
- Salt, to taste
- 10 – Cardamom (Elakka)
- 50 g Raisins Onakkamunthiri
- 50 g Cashewnuts
- 100 g Ghee
Preparation
Step 1
Pressure cook the wheat, till done.
Step 2
Pressure cook the dhal in another pan, till done.
Step 3
Place the cooked wheat and cooked dhal in a big vessel on a low flame.
Step 4
Add coconut milk, sugar, powdered cardamom and salt. Stir continuously.
Step 5
When it starts to reduce or thicken and gets a consistency of a payasam, take it off the heat.
Step 6
Check sweetness and season with salt to your taste.
Step 7
Garnish with fried cashews and raisins.
Tip
Soak the rice for at least 20 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking and prevents the grains from breaking.
