Fish Peera | Meen Peera
A delightful fish recipe from God’s Own Country with a spicy and tangy flavor. The styled dish is a favorite in Kerala Cuisine. The lightly flavored Fish Peera goes very well as a side dish with hot steamed rice.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 500 g Fish KochuMathy,Kozhuva
- 10 nos Small onions (Kunjulli)
- 6 nos Green chilly hot
- 4 Pcs Kukum star Kudam (puli)
- 1 piece Ginger
- 4 nos Garlic cloves
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tsp Chilly powder — optional
- 1/2 A Grated Coconut
- 3 Stems Curry leaves
- Salt, to taste
- 3 tbsp Coconut oil
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the delicious dish, first clean the fish well(preferably small fish).
Step 2
Grind roughly small onions, green chillies, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, chilly powder with grated coconut and a 1/2 cup of water.
Step 3
Heat the above mixture along with kukum star until it starts boiling.
Step 4
Add the fish and curry leaves into it.
Step 5
Add salt and keep in sim mode until the fish gets cooked.
Step 6
Take it off the heat.
Step 7
Pour oil and close the lid for 5 min.
Step 8
Serve the dish hot with rice, Kanji(Rice soup).
Tip
Never stir a fish curry with a spoon. Shake the pot gently to coat the pieces — stirring breaks them apart.
