Fish Mappas Easy With Avoli Or King Fish Or Butter Fish
Fish Mappas is a dish of creamy textured coconut gravy with a slight tangy flavor. Fish Mappas is a simple, easy to prepare dish mostly prepared during joyous celebrations and functions.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1/2 kg Fish King fish or Butter fish or Avoli
- 2 nos Onions sliced, medium
- 6 nos Green chillies — slit
- 2 inch Ginger — chopped
- 4 nos Garlic cloves — chopped
- 2 tsp Vinegar
- 10 - Curry leaves
- 11/2 cup Thin coocnut milk
- 3/4 cup Thick coconut milk
- 1 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Corriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin powder (Jeerakam)
- Salt, to taste
- 3 tbsp Oil
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Fish Mappas, make a paste of chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder in 4 tsp of water.
Step 2
Pour oil into a pan and heat it.
Step 3
Cook onions, chilli, garlic, ginger and curry leaves together.
Step 4
When done, add the masala paste and stir.
Step 5
Add 1 1/2 cups of thin coconut milk, salt and vinegar.
Step 6
Cover and boil.
Step 7
Add fish and after its cooked and the gravy has thickened, add 3/4 cup thick coconut milk.
Step 8
Simmer for about 3 minutes and take it off the heat.
Step 9
Serve Fish Mappas hot with rice.
Tip
Never stir a fish curry with a spoon. Shake the pot gently to coat the pieces — stirring breaks them apart.
