Fish Fry In Cheese Batter(Meen)
Slow-roasted in coconut oil with a generous hand of spices, this fish fry develops layers of flavour as it dries out on the pan. The patience pays off — every piece is coated and concentrated.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 250 g Fish without bones
- 1 tsp Vinegar
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/2 cup All purpose flour Maida
- 1 nos Egg
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup Cheese — grated
- Salt, to taste
- Oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Cut the fish into thin even sized pieces.
Step 2
Wash and pat dry. Set aside.
Step 3
Make a paste of vinegar, pepper, maida and necessary salt.
Step 4
Dip the fish pieces in this paste and set aside for 15-20 minutes.
Step 5
Make a batter of the remaining flour, egg, milk, grated cheese and required salt.
Step 6
Coat the fish pieces with the batter.
Step 7
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil and fry in hot oil the fish pieces to a golden brown colour.

Serve the Fish Fry in Cheese Batter in hot!
Tip
The final handful of curry leaves should go in right at the end, off the heat — they should crackle and crisp in the residual heat.
