Fish Curry With Green Mango
Spicy, tangy fish curry which would make your mouth water - by sujee.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1/2 kg Fish cleaned and washed, any kind that you like
- 1 small Raw sour mango chopped into big pieces; make about 8 pieces or less
- 1 small Tomato — diced
- 1 cup Shallots/sambar onions peeled and — crushed
- 1/4 cup Shallots/sambar onions finely chopped into roundels
- 4 Green chillies — slit
- 2 sprig Curry leaves
- Coriander leaves roughly — chopped
- 4 tbsp Chili powder
- 2 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt (to taste
- 3 tbsp Cooking oil
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 1" piece Ginger
Preparation
Step 1
Add some salt and turmeric power to the cleaned fish and set aside.
Step 2
In a vessel or earthen pot take 2 cups of water.
Step 3
To this add tomatoes, crushed onion, green chilies, curry leaves, chili power, coriander powder, turmeric powder, enough water and salt to taste.
Step 4
Keep the prepared mixture on stove top and Put the lid on and cook for 5 minutes.
Step 5
Add the coconut paste and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 6
Put the lid on and cook till the curry reduces a bit.
Step 7
Add the fish pieces and mango pieces and Put the lid on and cook till they are well cooked.
Step 8
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a small kadai.
Step 9
Add the finely chopped onion and fry till they are browned and nice aroma arises.
Step 10
Pour this on to the curry and keep it closed. Serve hot with rice, idli or dosa.

Tip
Coconut oil and curry leaves at the very end, off the heat, give the curry its characteristic Kerala aroma. Never skip this final step.
