Ethakka Mathi Puzhukku | Sardines In Raw Bananas
Embark on a gastronomic adventure as we explore the culinary masterpiece known as Ethakka Mathi Puzhukku.

- 1 kg Pacha Kaya (Ethakka)
- 1 kg Sardines(Mathi
- 11/2 tbsp Chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Ginger — chopped
- 1 tsp Garlic — chopped
- 1/2 Of one Coconut(grated
- 6-7 nos Green chillies As per preference
- 3 nos Shallots
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Curry leaves, a few
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Ethakka Mathi Puzhukku, first crush the ingredients for grinding to a coarse form. Keep the crushed coconut mixture aside.
Step 2
Clean the sardines, wash well and drain. Take a pan and arrange the sardines in it. Add raw chilly powder, turmeric powder, ginger, garlic, required salt and 1/2 cup water. Cook and evaporate the water.
Step 3
When the heat has subsided, remove the bones of the sardines and collect the flesh. Set aside.
Step 4
Meanwhile, slice the raw banana into halves and slice thinly in a slanting manner. Pour required water and salt into the banana pieces and cook.
Step 5
When water starts evaporating, add the previously crushed coconut mixture.
Step 6
Stir in the cooked sardines and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 7
Cover the vessel with a lid and cook till vapour comes. Add curry leaves and Stir everything together thoroughly by slight crushing with the back of a spoon. Ethakka Mathi Puzhukku/Sardines In Tapioca, an innovative and healthy dish is ready.
Tip
Never stir a fish curry with a spoon. Shake the pot gently to coat the pieces — stirring breaks them apart.
