Egg Onion Pakoda | Mutta Ulli Bajji
This egg, also known as Mutta Ulli Bajji in South India, is a scrumptious and savory snack that is perfect for tea-time or as an appetizer at gatherings.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 4 Eggs Hard boiled
- 2 nos Onion Sliced thin
- 3 nos Green chilly — chopped
- 1 cup Maida
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 3/4 tsp Chilly powder
- Garam masala A pinch
- Coriander leaves, a few
- Curry leaves, a few
- Oil — for frying
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Peel and cut the eggs into 4 pieces.
Step 2
Get a vessel and add chopped onion, green chilly, curry leaves, coriander leaves, chilly powder, turmeric powder and required salt.
Step 3
Combine the onion mixture with your hand.
Step 4
Add maida into the onion mixture.
Step 5
Stir everything together thoroughly and combine by adding little water to get a thick batter. Set aside.
Step 6
Get a wide thick bottomed pan and add sufficient oil. Heat the oil.
Step 7
Dip each egg piece in the batter and cover the egg completely.
Step 8
Drop the thick batter coated egg into hot boiling oil. fry in hot oil the Egg Onion Pakodas till golden brown. Flip over and fry the other side too.
Step 9
Strain and remove pakodas from oil. Crispy and Egg Onion Pakodas are ready to eat.

Tip
Hard-boil the eggs first, then make shallow cuts on the surface before adding them to the gravy — this lets the masala flavour penetrate inside.
