Easy To Preapre Wheat Appam
Lacy edges, spongy centre — appam is fermented rice batter swirled in a curved pan until it forms a bowl-shaped pancake. The slight tang from fermentation pairs perfectly with a coconut stew or egg curry.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- Milk : Approximate 2 cup or more
- Wheat flour : 1 ½ cup
- Salt, to taste
- Baking powder : 1 ½ tsp
- Egg : 2 nos
- Sugar : 1 tsp
Preparation
Step 1
First mix the baking powder and wheat flour.
Step 2
Then pour milk to a mixer.
Step 3
Add the wheat flour mix to it.
Step 4
Grind it well and to this add egg,sugar and salt and grind again and make it a smooth matter.
Step 5
Then pour the matter to a bowl and keep it for 3 hours.
Step 6
Then heat the pan ( if possible use velleappa chatty ) add oil or dalda to it and when it gets hot.
Step 7
To this pour little of the matter and move it to circular.
Step 8
Then close the pan and allow it to get cooked.
Step 9
When it cooked transfer to the serving plate.
Step 10
It can be taken with both veg and non veg currys.
Tip
Hard-boil the eggs first, then make shallow cuts on the surface before adding them to the gravy — this lets the masala flavour penetrate inside.
