Drumstick Flowers-Muringapoo Thoran
Drumstick flowers mixed with grated coconut and cooked in a natural style.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 2 cup Drumstick flowers Muringapoo
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 tbsp Green chillies — chopped
- 1 tsp Urad dal parippu (Uzhunnu)
- 1 tsp Mustard
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
- Oil, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Get a frying pan and pour oil. Heat the oil and let the mustard seeds crackle and add urad dal, green chillies and curry leaves.
Step 2
Add grated coconut and cook for some time.
Step 3
When the coconut changes to a light golden color, stir in drumstick flowers and add required salt. Mix and pour some water.
Step 4
Cover with a lid and cook in low heat until the water evaporates completely.
Step 5
Muringapoo thoran is ready and serve hot.
Tip
The pan should be completely dry when you finish — no moisture should remain. That dryness is what gives thoran its characteristic texture.
