Delicious Tomato Uttapam
A traditional preparation from Kerala that balances flavour, texture, and aroma in the way that only home cooking can. No two households make it exactly the same, and that is the point.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup All purpose flour Maida
- 1/2 cup Semolina Rava
- 6 nos Green chillies — finely chopped
- 1 cup Onions — finely chopped
- 1 cup Curd
- 2 nos Tomatoes sliced round
- 5 tbsp Coriander leaves — finely chopped
- Oil, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing delicious tomato uttapam, take a bowl, mix in maida, semolina, curd, a little water and salt.
Step 2
Drop in green chillies, onions, coriander leaves. Mix it well.
Step 3
Heat a non stick tawa. Take a ladle full of the batter and spread it on the tawa.
Step 4
Add oil and fry both the sides.
Step 5
Last, press tomato slices on it.
Step 6
Delicious tomato uttapam is ready. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
Tip
When the recipe says "medium heat," it means medium. Kerala cooking is not about high-flame drama — most of the work happens at a patient, steady temperature.
