Dal Tadka

Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- Dal : 1 bowl
- Onion : ½ of a small
- Tomato : 1 small
- Turmeric powder : a pinch
- Chilly powder : ¾ tsp
- Dry chilli : 2 nos
- Mustard seeds, a few
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Boil Dal along onion, tomato, salt, turmeric and chili powder.
Step 2
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil. let the mustard seeds crackle. Add dry chilly also.
Step 3
Mix it with the boiled dal.
Step 4
Dal Tadka ready.
Tip
When the recipe says "medium heat," it means medium. Kerala cooking is not about high-flame drama — most of the work happens at a patient, steady temperature.
