Corn Flour Sweet Easy
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 250 g Corn flour
- 400 g Sugar
- 250 g Ghee
- Saffron A pinch
- Orange/Kesari color powder A pinch
- 1 tsp Cardamom powder (Elakka)
- Edible camphor A pinch, Pacha Karpooram
- 100 g Cashew nuts
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing corn flour sweet, mix corn flour with water to make a smooth paste.
Step 2
Melt sugar in low flame adding 2 cups of water to make sugar syrup.
Step 3
Mix the corn flour paste with the sugar syrup. Stir everything together thoroughly in low flame and add ghee slowly at intervals.
Step 4
Next, add in cashew nuts, edible camphor, saffron and cardamom. Stir everything together thoroughly and take it off the heat.
Step 5
Grease a plate with ghee and pour in the mixture. Allow it to cool.
Step 6
Corn flour sweet is ready. Serve when it is cool.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
