Chuvanna Cheera(Red Amaranth) Roast
A Very Nutritious And Tasty Side Dish With White Steamed Rice.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 kg Red amaranth Chuvanna (cheera)
- 1/2 cup Onion — chopped
- 1 tsp Rice
- 1 Stem Curry leaves
- 2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/4 cup Coconut — grated
- Salt, to taste

- Pacha (Green Amaranth — also can be prepared in the same method (Cheera)
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing chuvanna cheera roast, first clean, wash the cheera and cut into small pieces.
Step 2
Heat a frying pan, add some oil and then put rice into the oil.
Step 3
Add the chopped onion into the oil. Put chilly powder and salt into the mix. Stir the Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 4
Add the cut cheera and stir the Stir everything together thoroughly. Allow to cook the mix in steam(please avoid using water directly to cook the mix).
Step 5
When the mix is cooked, add grated coconut, stir it for 2-3 minutes and take it out from the stove.
Step 6
Cheera roast is ready and can be served with chappathi, rice etc.
Tip
The final handful of curry leaves should go in right at the end, off the heat — they should crackle and crisp in the residual heat.
