Chocolate Walnut Brownie
A traditional preparation from Kerala that balances flavour, texture, and aroma in the way that only home cooking can. No two households make it exactly the same, and that is the point.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 3/4 cup Maida
- 11/4 cup Sugar
- 100 g Butter
- 3 nos Eggs
- 6 tbsp Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 cup Walnuts — chopped
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
Preparation
Step 1
Sieve flour(Maida) with baking powder.
Step 2
Melt butter in a microwave or over the gas stove.
Step 3
Add the cocoa powder to the melted butter and Stir everything together thoroughly. Allow to cool.
Step 4
Powder the sugar.
Step 5
Whisk eggs well with an electric beater.
Step 6
Add sugar to the egg mixture and whisk further; add vanilla essence to it.
Step 7
Mix the butter cocoa mixture to the egg mixture.
Step 8
Fold in the flour to the above mixture and Stir everything together thoroughly with a spoon.
Step 9
Mix 1Tbsp flour to the walnuts and fold into the cake mixture.
Step 10
Fold in the walnuts to the cake batter.
Step 11
Grease the cake tin with little butter and dust it with flour.
Step 12
Pour the prepared cake batter into the prepared cake tin. Bake at 175 deg centigrade for about 45 minutes.
Step 13
While the cake is warm, sprinkle grated chocolate all over the cake. While serving you can warm up the brownie a bit and pour vanilla ice cream over it.
Tip
Let the dish rest for a few minutes after cooking. Flavours settle and meld during this time, and the texture often improves.
