Choco Bread Cake
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- Bread : 1 pack
- Cocoa powder : 2 tsp
- Egg : 2 nos
- Sugar powder : 1 ½ cup
- Vanilla essence : 2 tsp
- Baking powder : 1 ½ tsp
- Ghee : 1 tsp
- Milk : 1 cup — optional
Preparation
Step 1
Cut the sides of bread and crush it with hand.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, add egg and powder sugar. Whisk well.
Step 3
Add soda powder, vanilla essence and cocoa powder. Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 4
Now it will be a thick consistency. Now add the bread pieces and mix it well.
Step 5
Add ghee and mix again.
Step 6
Spread this mixture in a flat vessel and bake it in a steamer for 20 minutes.
Step 7
Chocco bread cake is ready.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
