Chembu Thandu Fry | Taro Stem Stir Fry
A styled side dish, very popular in Kerala. one of the easiest of vegetarian dishes that requires very minimum ingredients and can be cooked in a jiffy.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1 cup Taro stem — chopped
- 2 nos Green chilly — slit
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Curry leaves little
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the delicious stir fry, first peel off the outer soft skin as we do in plantains.
Step 2
Chop the cleaned stem, curry leaves and green chilly.
Step 3
Heat oil and let the mustard seeds crackle, Add chopped taro stem, green chilly and salt. Never add a drop of water. Now Put the lid on and cook on low heat for 10 minutes till the dish is done.
Step 4
The And nutritious stir fry is ready to serve.
Tip
A heavy-bottomed pan or cast iron skillet gives you the best results for a proper Kerala fry. Thin pans burn the spices before the meat dries.
