Chemb(Taro/colocasia) Madhurathil Vechathu
Chemb(Taro/colocasia)Madhurathil vechadhu is a malabar recipe.It is a simple recipe with few ingredients and we can prepare it with in 15 minutes.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 500 g Chemb
- 1 Cup,grated Coconut
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- Cardamom powder pinch
- Salt pinch
- Water, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Peel the skin of Taro and clean well under running water then cut into medium small pieces.
Step 2
Cook the chemb(Taro) in a cooker with 2 cup water and a pinch of salt for 2 whistles.
Step 3
Heat a pan and add grated coconut and sugar.
Step 4
Add little water,cardamom powder and let it go for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Add cooked chemb(Taro)into it and smash it with a spoon.let it go for 3-4 minutes.
Step 6
Chemb madhurathil vechathu is ready to serve.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
