Channa Dal(Split Bengal Gram)Papaya Curry
Channa Dal Papaya curry is a kerala recipe.Channa dal is a common ingredient used to make vegetable curries.Here is one recipe where I have used channa dal along with raw papaya.it tastes best with steamed rice.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 100 g Channa Dal
- 1 small Papaya
- 1 Green chilly
- 3/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 cup Water
- For Seasoning
- 1/2 tsp Mustard
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 3 Dry red chilly
- 4 Shallots — chopped
Preparation
Step 1
Whash the channa dal.
Step 2
Cut the papaya into small pieces.
Step 3
Get a pressure cooker add channa dal,pappaya,turmeric powder,green chilly and salt.
Step 4
Add water and close the lid.wait for 5 whistles to come.
Step 5
For seasoning Heat the oil in a pan and allow to crackle mustard in it.add shallots,dry red chilly, stir for a few seconds and turn off the heat.
Step 6
Mix it with the curry.
Step 7
Channa Dal papaya curry is ready to serve.it goes well with steamed rice.
Tip
For a thicker gravy, cook uncovered on medium heat for the last few minutes. For a thinner consistency, add a splash of warm water.
