Chakkakuru Thoran (jackfruit Seed)
This is a no oil healthy side dish for rice. Very nutriitious and less expensive dish.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 250 g Chakkakuru
- 1/2 Portion Coconut
- 1/2 cup Shallots
- 1/4" chopped Ginger
- 3 Pods Garlic
- 6 Finely Green chilly
- 1 cup Water
- Salt
- 2 Spring Curry leaves
Preparation
Step 1
Cut seeds lenghtwise into thin strips.
Step 2
Chop other ingredients.
Step 3
Mix with grated coconut in a heavy bottomed pan or clay pot(man chatty).
Step 4
Add salt and water and let it boil in a high flame.
Step 5
Once it begins to boils keep the gas in simmer. And close the lid cook occasionally.when water completely drains. Put the gas off.
Step 6
Now this is ready to serve.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
