Chakkakuru Thakkali Curry
A favorite in Kerala Cuisine prepared using jackfruit seeds. Usually raw mango is used but here tomato is substituted. preferred during summer season when jackfruits are available in plenty.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 15 nos Jackfruit seed
- 2 small Tomato
- 1 Cup,grated Coconut
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Mustard
- 3 Shallots
- 1 Green chilly
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Curry leaves, a few
- Salt, to taste
- Water as tequired
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Chakkakuru Thakkali Curry, take all the ingredients and keep it ready.
Step 2
Cook the jackfruit seeds with tomato, green chilly, turmeric powder, chilly powder, green chilly, salt and water as needed for 4-5 whistles.
Step 3
Grind grated coconut with little water to get a smooth paste and mix it with the cooked jackfruit seeds.
Step 4
Add water if required and bring it boil.
Step 5
Warm the oil in a pan, let the mustard seeds crackle and add chopped shallots. cook it, stirring until golden brown and mix it with the curry.
Step 6
Delicious chakkakuru thakkali curry is ready to serve.
Tip
Let the curry rest for at least 15 minutes after cooking — the flavours deepen as it sits. Reheated curry almost always tastes better than fresh.
