Broken Wheat-Daliya Kheer
Broken wheat is cooked with milk, sugar and dry fruits in a pressure cooker.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 3 tbsp Broken wheat/Daliya Nurukku godambu
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Milk
- 6 tsp Ghee
- 10 nos Cashew nuts
- 10 nos Raisins
Preparation
Step 1
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and fry the daliya till lightly browned.
Step 2
Stir in sugar and milk.
Step 3
Cover the cooker and cook until 4 whistles.
Step 4
Set a pan on the stove. Heat ghee and fry cashew nuts and raisins. Pour this over the kheer.
Step 5
Broken wheat/dhaliya kheer, a favorite with kids, is ready.
Tip
Keep stirring throughout — the cream that forms on the sides should be scraped back in. That is where the richness comes from.
