Bread Pakoda
Crispy, golden, and gone before they cool down — these fried snacks are the kind of thing that appears with evening tea and disappears within minutes. Best eaten hot, right out of the oil.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 8 slice Bread : 6 or
- And boiled potatoes : 3 nos — peeled
- Cumin seeds : 1 tsp
- Garam masala : 1 tsp
- Coriander powder : 1 tsp (if necessary
- Salt, to taste
- Red chilli powder : 1 tsp
- Onion : ¼ cup — chopped
- Coriander leaves : ¼ cup — chopped
- 2 cup Bengalgram powder : 1 Kadalamaavu
- Coconut / Refined oil : as reqd (to fry the pakoda
Preparation
Step 1
Crush the boiled potatoes.
Step 2
Add the garam masala powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, salt, cumin seeds and salt and mix it well and keep this mix separately.
Step 3
Get the kadalamavu in a vessel followed by a few red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt in it.
Step 4
Add required quantity of water (to make the mix in a loose paste form) and stir it well.
Step 5
Keep this mix separately.
Step 6
Get one slice of the bread and put some potato (mixed with masalas) and spread it well in the full surface of the bread as shown in below picture.

Cover this bread slice with another slice of bread.

Cut the bread slices into two pieces as shown in below picture.

Dip these bread slices in the kadalamavu paste full.
Step 12
Heat the oil in a frying pan and then put the bread slices into the boiled oil.
Step 13
Fry both sides of the bread slices and then take them out from the oil and keep separately to remove the oil completely.
Step 14
Bread Pakoda is ready and it can be served with sauce or chutney as a snack for the evening tea / coffee.
Tip
Oil temperature is critical. Too hot and the outside burns before the inside cooks. Too cool and the snack absorbs oil and turns soggy.
