Bread And Nut Payasam
The kind of payasam that appears at every Sadya and disappears first from the banana leaf. Slow-reduced milk, a touch of sweetness, and the warmth of cardamom — simple in concept, extraordinary in taste.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 3 slice Bread
- 50 g Cashew nuts
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 1/2 litre Milk
- 100 g Sugar
- 1/2 Tin condensed milk
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder (Elakka)
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing bread and nut payasam, powder the bread slices and cashew nuts.
Step 2
Fry it in ghee till it turns brown in colour.
Step 3
Add milk, condensed milk, sugar, vanilla essence and cardamom powder. Allow it to boil well.
Step 4
Garnish with fried dry fruits.
Step 5
Bread and nut payasam is ready.
Tip
The payasam will thicken significantly as it cools. Stop cooking when it is still slightly thinner than your target consistency.
