Beetroot Puttu
Today im going to make a beautiful and nutritious beetroot puttu.This is the best way to make the puttu colourful and interesting especially for kids.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 cup Puttu podi
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 Beetroot
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Grind the beetroot until a smooth paste without adding water.
Step 2
In a roomy mixing bowl, add puttu podi and required salt.Then add the beetroot paste little by little to make a wet and smooth powder,there should not be any lumps.
Step 3
Get the puttu maker and add 1 tbsp grated coconut then add beetroot puttu mix and top it with grated coconut again.continue the process till the puttu maker completely filled.
Step 4
Heat 3 cup water in a puttu kudam or pressure cooker and place in top of it.steam let it go for 5-6 minutes.
Step 5
Now the Beetroot puttu is ready.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
