Beef(ground) Curry
Rich, fragrant, and full-bodied — this beef curry gets its depth from slow-cooked shallots and a careful balance of chilli heat and tang. Serve with appam, rice, or porotta.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 Lbs Ground beef
- 1 nos Onion big
- 1 nos Tomato
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
- 2 sprig Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- 2 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Fennel powder (Perinjeerakam)
- 1 tsp Meat masala Garam masala
- 1 cup Coconut milk
- 3 tbsp Oil Coconut oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Pour oil into a pan and heat it.
Step 2
Cook onion and ginger-garlic pste till onion turns light brown or translucent.
Step 3
Add curry leaves.
Step 4
Add chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and cumin powder and fry well.
Step 5
Add finely chopped tomato and cook well.
Step 6
Add a little water and coconut milk.
Step 7
Add salt.
Step 8
Get the meat and roll it into small balls and drop them into the curry.
Step 9
Let the meat balls cook.
Step 10
Add little more water if necessary.
Step 11
Once the meat is done, open the lid and cook for another 5 minutes or until the gravy thickens.
Step 12
Serve while still hot with chappathis or pooris.
Tip
Taste the gravy before adding the main ingredient. It should be well-seasoned and balanced on its own — the protein or vegetable will dilute it slightly.
