Beef Fry - Chinese American Style
Pan-fried until the edges go dark and crispy, this beef fry is the kind of dish you eat standing in the kitchen before it ever reaches the table. Dry-roasted with spices and finished with a fistful of curry leaves.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 500 g Beef strips
- 1 nos Capsicum large
- 2 nos Carrots medium
- 4 Buttons Mushrooms white preferred
- Oil not too much as excess makes the dish oily
- 1 tsp Garlic paste
- 2 tbsp Soya sauce
- 2 tbsp Chilie sauce
- 2 tbsp Barbecue sauce
- 2 tbsp Lemon juice
- 2 tbsp Steak sauce
Preparation
Step 1
Marinate beef strips with the marination ingredients and keep overnight.
Step 2
Cook mushrooms and carrots.
Step 3
When they are cooked, add capsicum and cook a further minute.
Step 4
Set this aside, make sure that the carrots, mushrooms and capsicum still retain thier colour as this makes the dish look colourful.
Step 5
Cook the marinated beef strips in the same oil till beef is cooked, keep the flame on low so as to avoid burning and discolouring.
Step 6
Serve on a platter and top with stir fried vegetables.
Step 7
I prefer to serve this with white rice.
Tip
Thin strips cook faster and develop more crispy surface area than thick cubes. Cut against the grain for tenderness.
