Beef Biriyani In Kerala Style
Beef biryani is a popular Indian and Pakistani dish that is fairly easy to make. Tender morsels of steak cubes cooked in a beautifully thickened spicy gravy, served over fragrant basmati rice makes the beef biryani a meal to remember.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- Biriyani rice - 1 kg
- Beef - 500 gm
- Onion - 5 nos
- Green chilly - 4 nos
- Ginger - small pc
- Garlic - 6 nos
- Tomato - 4 nos
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Garam masala - 1 tsp
- Salt -, to taste
- Coriander leaves -, to taste
- Water - as
Preparation
Step 1
Cook the beef with beef masala and salt with water as needed.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a vessel and cook onion and grinded green chilly, garlic, ginger with salt to taste.
Step 3
Add tomato and cook again.
Step 4
Add turmeric powder, chilly powder, garam masala and curry leaves.
Step 5
Cook it with beef for 10 minutes.
Step 6
Heat the oil in a large vessel and cook cardamom and cinnamon in it. And add water as needed.
Step 7
Once the water boils add biriyani rice, cook it covered for 20 minutes or till the water drains.
Step 8
Convert the rice in to beef masala and let it go for 5 minutes in low flame.
Tip
The bottom layer of rice — the crispy, golden crust — is called the "thari" and is the most prized part. Cook on very low heat for the last 10 minutes to get it right.
