Beans Poriyal
A tasty styled dish, very popular in Kerala Cuisine. A widely sought after dish that goes well with hot rice for noon day meals. No Sadhya is ever complete without a dish of beans.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Beans — finely chopped
- 10 nos Shallots — finely chopped (Kunjulli)
- 4 nos Green chillies — cut into small pieces
- ½ cup Coconut — grated
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Coconut oil, to taste
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 - Red chillies (Kollamulaku)
- Curry leaves A, a few
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Mix together the finely chopped beans, shallots, chillies, grated coconut, turmeric powder and salt. Stir everything together thoroughly with your hand so that the ingredients are well blended.
Step 2
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil or a kadai.
Step 3
Add mustard seeds and allow it to allow to crackle.
Step 4
Add dry red chillies and curry leaves to it.
Step 5
Add the beans mixture into the kadai and allow to cook it on low heat.
Step 6
Serve the healthy green dish with rice.
Tip
Do not rush the onion and shallot frying. The difference between pale onions and properly browned onions is the difference between a flat dish and a flavourful one.
