Banana Sweet Bonda | Pazham Bonda
The crispy and sweet flavors of Banana Sweet Bonda, Kerala’s iconic banana snack perfect for tea-time and festive occasions.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 2 nos Ripe plantain Rie Ethakaya
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 4 nos Cardamom
- 3/4 cup Wheat flour
- 1/4 cup Rice flour
- 1 pinch Baking soda
- 2 pinch Salt
- Oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Get a blender and add over ripe plantain, sugar and cardamom. Blend it to make a smooth paste.
Step 2
Pour the banana puree in to a wide bowl and add wheat flour, rice flour, baking soda and salt.
Step 3
Fold everything together gently to make a thick batter. Add more wheat flour, if the batter is too loose in consistency.
Step 4
Warm the oil in a kadai and drop batter spoonfull and fry on medium heat.
Step 5
Fry both sides until golden brown.
Step 6
Serve alongside a cup of tea. Relish Banana Sweet Bonda.
Tip
When working with jaggery, always melt and strain it first. Even the best quality jaggery has some grit that needs to be removed.
