Banana-Chocolate Cake
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 20 servings
- 1 cup Allpurpose flour Maida
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 4 nos Eggs
- 1 cup Sugar
- 2 Sticks Unsalted butter 250 gm
- 3 tbsp Orange juice
- 4 nos Cloves (Grambu)
- 4 small Cinnamon (Karugapatta)
- 2 nos Banana
- 1/2 cup Chocolate milk
- 1/2 cup Walnuts — diced
Preparation
Step 1
Mix nicely maida, baking soda and baking powder.
Step 2
Powder the cloves and cinnamon sticks well.
Step 3
Melt the sugar with 1/8 cup of water in a pan and after putting off the fire, add butter to it.
Step 4
Beat the eggs nicely.
Step 5
Blend the banana and chocolate milk in a mixie.
Step 6
When the sugar syrup is cool, add the maida mixture slowly and stir it nicely without lumps.
Step 7
Add eggs and banana mix to that and stir nicely.
Step 8
Finally, add the cloves-cinnamon powder, orange juice and diced walnuts.
Step 9
Preheat the oven to 325 c.
Step 10
Pour the mixture into a greased (grease with butter) baking pan and keep it in oven.
Step 11
After 30 minutes, lower the temp to 300 c.
Step 12
After 25 minutes, switch off the oven.
Step 13
After 5 minutes, your delicious cake will be ready.
Step 14
Tips:- chocolate milk use hersheys 2%.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
