Ari Paayasam (Rice Payasam)
Ari Paayasam or Rice Payasam is a milk rice porridge that can be ed as a dessert. Kids love the jaggery flavored dish and the dish can be easily prepared at home with minimum ingredients.
Ingredientsfor 8 servings
- 1 cup Unakkalari (Raw Rice) / Basmati rice Boiled Rice (Pachari)
- 2 Balls Jaggery
- 2 cup Coconut — grated
- 2-3 nos Rasakadali pazham
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 50 g Cashew
- 50 g Raisins
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Ari Paayasam, first wash and cook rice by adding 2 1/2 cups of water.
Step 2
When the rice gets cooked well, add crushed jaggery and keep it in a low flame till the jaggery melts completely.
Step 3
Add grated coconut along with cardamom powder.
Step 4
Slit the rasakadali bananas vertically and cut it into small pieces and mix it well with the payasam.
Step 5
When all the ingredients get mixed and cooked well and the payasam reaches a semi thick consistency, remove it from fire.
Step 6
Heat ghee in a pan and fry cashew nuts and raisins and sprinkle it along with the ghee over the payasam and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 7
This payasam is very If it is served hot or served after keeping it in the fridge for sometime.
Tip
The payasam will thicken significantly as it cools. Stop cooking when it is still slightly thinner than your target consistency.
