An Easy Bread Snack
Straightforward Kerala cooking — good ingredients treated well, spiced with confidence, and served without pretence. The kind of food that tastes like someone's kitchen, not a restaurant.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 tbsp Milk
- 2 - Sugar
- 3 tbsp Carrots — grated
- 3 nos Bread slices
- Ghee/butter to grease the pan
- 1 tsp Cardamom powder (Elakka)
- Eggs
Preparation
Step 1
Beat the eggs.
Step 2
Add milk, sugar, cardamom powder and the grated carrot to the egg mix.
Step 3
Cut the bread slices into triangle shapes.
Step 4
Dip the bread pieces in the mix and spread the egg mix evenly on both the sides of the bread pieces.
Step 5
Keeping the flame low, grease the frying pan with ghee/butter.
Step 6
Roast the bread pieces until it is lightly browned.
Step 7
Instead of the sugar and cardamom powder, if u add 2 green chillies, 1/2 teaspoon of ginger paste and finely chopped coriander leaves, its also a Snack.
Tip
When the recipe says "medium heat," it means medium. Kerala cooking is not about high-flame drama — most of the work happens at a patient, steady temperature.
