Yogurt Fish-Machhli
Fried fish pieces cooked in blended curd and other ingredients.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 250 g Fish cut in cubes
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- 1 tbsp Ginger — crushed
- 1 tsp Garlic — crushed
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin powder (Jeerakam)
- 1 nos Bay leaf small
- 1 nos Cinnamon (Karugapatta)
- 1 nos Cardamom (Elakka)
- 1 cup Curd blended
- 2 Tblsp Mustard oil
- Curry leaves, a few
- 1/2 tsp Sugar
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Roll the fish pieces in turmeric and salt. 2)Heat half of the oil in a kadai and fry the fish pieces to a golden brown color. Keep the fried fish aside.
Step 2
Pour remaining oil in the same kadai and fry cardamom, cinnamon and bay leaf.
Step 3
Add onion, ginger, garlic, turmeric, cumin powder and chilly powder. cook in low flame for a few minutes by adding little water.
Step 4
Stir in the curd and Stir everything together thoroughly. Simmer for a few minutes.
Step 5
Add fried fish pieces along with salt, sugar and little water.
Step 6
Cook in low flame till the gravy is thick. Add curry leaves and little oil on top of the gravy.
Step 7
Yogurt fish/machhli curry, a Dish with plain rice is ready.
Tip
Seafood cooks in minutes. The single biggest mistake is overcooking — the moment fish turns opaque or prawns curl and go pink, they are done.
