Village Style Beef Curry | Nadan Beef Koorka Curry

- 1 kg Beef
- 4 nos Onion — sliced
- 3 nos Tomato — chopped
- 6 nos Green chilly — sliced
- 21/2 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 cup Koorka(Chinese Potato — sliced
- 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds — powdered
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- 3 tbsp Coriander powder
- 2 tbsp Chilly powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- Curry leaves, to taste
- Coriander leaves, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the delicious dish, first cook the beef in half a cup of water along with turmeric powder, fenugreek seeds powder and salt in a pressure cooker up to 5 whistles or until done. Keep cooked beef aside.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a vessel and cook ginger-garlic paste in it for 1 minute and set aside.
Step 3
Add thinly sliced onion and cook until it has softened and lightly browned.
Step 4
Add coriander powder and red chilly powder and cook for one minute.
Step 5
Add tomato, green chilly, koorka pieces, curry leaves & coriander leaves. cook it, stirring for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Add little water, boil and let the chinese potato or koorka cook well.
Step 7
Stir in cooked beef, pepper and garam masala. Cook it again for 5 minutes in medium flame. The delicious curry dish is ready to serve.
Tip
Pressure cooking first saves time, but do not skip the dry-roasting step after — that is where the Kerala beef fry gets its signature dark, caramelised crust.
