Vanpayar Paayasam/Red Cow Peas Payasam
This is a prelaration of paayasam in malabar side muslims.Red cow peas is rich in fiber,protein,vitamins and minerals.Cow peas tones the spleen,stomach and panceras.it helps induse urination also.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 2 cup Rrd cow peas
- 1 cup Finger millet/ragi
- 300 g Jaggery
- 2 cup Coconut — grated
- Salt pinch
Preparation
Step 1
Wash the red beans and the cook it in the pressure cooker by adding a pinch of salt.
Step 2
Grind coconut,ragi and,keep a fine mesh stainer over a large bowl.
Step 3
Add cooked vanpayar and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 4
Keep a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl and pour melted jaggery through it.
Step 5
Cook another 3-4 minutes.when it boil,turn off the stove and set aside.
Step 6
Vanpayar paayasam is ready to serve.
Tip
Never rush the milk reduction by increasing the heat. Scorched milk adds a bitter undertone that ruins the entire payasam.
