Uppumavu(Rava-Sooji)

Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 cup Semolina Rava/Sooji
- 1 nos Onion big
- Or
- 5 nos Shallots — cut into small pieces, kunjulli
- 3 - Green chillies — cut into small pieces
- 1" piece Ginger — cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 2 tbsp Black gram (Uzhunnu)
- 2 nos Whole red chillies (Kollamulaku)
- 1/2 tbsp Mustard seeds
- Curry leaves A, a few
- 4 cup Water
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tbsp Oil
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat a frying pan and heat the rava till it becomes light brown and set aside.
Step 2
Get a kadai or pan and heat oil.
Step 3
Add mustard seeds, whole red chillies and curry leaves and allow it to allow to crackle.
Step 4
Add onion, green chillies, ginger, black gram and cook for 2 - 3 minutes.
Step 5
Add grated coconut and cook for a while.
Step 6
Add 4 cups of water and the required salt and leave it to boil.
Step 7
Add rava to the boiling water little by little, stirring continuously making sure that no lumps are formed.
Step 8
Cook for another 3 - 4 minutes in simmer. Serve hot.
