Uppuma Made With Iddaly
Idli upma is a very simple and dish made with leftover idlis.This is a very common breakfast dish in South India, which can be prepared in no time.it is so tasty that you can even serve it to guests.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 3 nos Idlies
- 2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 tsp Red Chillies — chopped
- 5 nos Curry leaves
- 2 Tspn Chutney Powder preferably made with roasted Blackgram Dhal, Redgram Dhal, Curry leaves, Salt etc
- Salt, to taste
- 3 tsp Coconut/Refined Oil
Preparation
Step 1
Cut the Idlies into small pieces.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a Frying pan/Cheenachatty and add Mustard seeds. After the Mustard Seeds are bursted, add Red Chilli pieces and Curry leaves and stir the mix.
Step 3
When the colour of the mix turns into brown, add Salt and the Iddaly pieces and stir it for about 2 minutes. Then turn off the heat and change the Uppuma to a Serving plate/vessel.
Step 4
Uppuma made with Iddaly is ready. This Uppuma can serve as break-fast/evening snack or even in the night in place of cooked Rice/Chappathi etc.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
