Unakka Chemmeen Chammanthi
A spicy dried chutney, a very popular chammanthi dish in Kerala, that goes well with rice and gruel. This chutney comes in handy when you are out of stock and you want something red and spicy that goes well with rice.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- Dried prawns : ¼ k gm
- Shallots : 6 nos
- Coconut : 1 cup
- Dry red chillies : 8 nos
- Coconut oil : 1 tsp
- Tamarind : a lemon size
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the delicious chammanthi dish, first clean prawns and remove head and tail.
Step 2
Dry roast prawns, coconut and chillies separately. While frying take care that the ingredients do not get burnt. Burning of ingredients will destroy the taste and flavor of the dish. Fry in low heat.
Step 3
Prawns should goes golden brown and crispy. Add a tsp of oil while frying chillies. First coarsely powder the prawns. Keep it in a plate. Mix together coconut, shallots and chillies in mixer. Coarsely powder them.
Step 4
Mix all together in the plate with hand. Add little salt. Press it with hand. Chammanthi dish is ready. This is a very And spicy chammanthi that goes well with rice and gruel. No other side dishes required when you are short of time.the dish with your family.
