Tomato Chutney | Tomato Vorta
This tomato, known as "Tomato Vorta" in Bengali, is a beloved condiment that adds a burst of flavor to any meal.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 4 nos Tomato Cut in halves
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- 2 nos Green chilly — sliced
- Curry leaves
- 6 Cloves Garlic — sliced
- ¼ tsp Sugar
- ½ tsp Chilly powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tbsp Coconut oil
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
Preparation
Step 1
Rinse ripe tomatoes under running water and cut into two pieces. Then Heat the oil in a pan and place tomato pieces like.
Step 2
Add sliced garlic cloves.
Step 3
Then cover the top and cook in low to medium flame for 7-10 minutes.
Step 4
Turn off the heat and remove the skin of tomatoes.
Step 5
Smash it with a smasher.
Step 6
Stir in chopped onion, green chilly and curry leaves.
Step 7
Next, add chilly powder, salt and sugar. Stir everything together thoroughly with a spoon.
Step 8
Finally add lemon juice and Fold everything together gently.
Step 9
Serve alongside any Indian meal.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
